::The deep carpet in this room is decorated with intricate golden mandalas on a royal-purple background, and beautiful tapestries hang on the walls, scenes of Lithos and other worlds the room's owner has visited. A full-sized four-poster bed, its cover also royal-purple stitched with gold, stands against the far wall; a desk and chair are set in the near right-hand corner of the room, and a weaver's loom stands in the near left-hand corner. The desk chair's occupied by a young blond man who looks up with a smile; he's been watching a lovely young woman with long, glossy dark-violet hair, who sits before the loom. She also looks toward the door; the two young Gemlords are so close in appearance as to be identical twins, with only subtle differences defining masculine and feminine in their faces. Both wear tight white leggings, loose white blouses, and sashes tied around their waists--hers dark purple, his golden-yellow, both with tiny bells sewn into the fringes::

::the woman giggles:: My turn for the tell-all, ne?

::smiles:: Yes, your turn. Before anyone gets too confused, maybe you should explain a little about your nature?

::the two speak in sync:: Of course. My soulstone is essentially the same stone--quartz--but with a clear division between violet and yellow, the stones referred to commonly as amethyst and citrine, respectively. Though I'm sitting here as two people, I'm a single mind and soul. At my birth, I was a single form--essentially neuter. ::twin chuckles:: Lord Obsidian's expression was priceless when I split into two separate bodies. It took me quite a bit of time to learn to coordinate my selves to avoid speaking or acting in tandem, though obviously I haven't lost the knack. ::both pretty faces smile slightly:: I still have the ability to merge my selves back into a single body, though I only do so rarely. 

Well, with that explained to some degree, let's get down to business. ::giggle:: Name and rank?

::in sync:: Ametrine. I'm a member of the Intelligence corps, under Lord Hiddenite. Lord Garnet, as Obsidian's spy, outranks us all and technically *could* assume control over the Intelligence service, but Hiddenite runs the day-to-day operations. We don't really have actual rankings in the service aside from a sort of informal pecking order, except for Hiddenite and his assistants. 

One big happy family, ne? ::giggle:: How about telling us how old you are, and your birthday?

::the Lord smiles:: Approximately one and one-half billion years old--though I look about 23, Terran standard. My birthdate's June 1 . . . I'm a Gemini. 

::slight giggle from the Lady:: Go figure, ne?

::shakes her head:: That's too ironic . . . okay, how about height and weight?

::Lady Ametrine nods:: I'm invariably 5'9", and about 135 pounds in either body. The exact distribution of mass changes, of course, depending on which body you're looking at. I'm distinctly feminine in one body and clearly masculine in the other. ::slight smile::

And your hair and eye colors? ::smile::

::they chuckle in sync:: This is where it gets a bit complicated.

::the Lady takes over the speaking:: My female self has very long hair--past my waist--and it's a very deep, rich violet, with slightly lighter highlights, and my eyes are a deep amber-gold. ::she shakes out the glorious mane, smiling::

::Lord Ametrine runs a hand back through his hair:: My male self has short hair, dark golden-blond with light streaks, and my eyes are a light violet--lighter than Garnet's. My *real*, combined self has a mane that goes just past the shoulder blades, and it's a blend of violet and gold. My eyes look almost like splintered-together crystals, with vivid, distinct streaks of violet and yellow. 

What kind of duties do you have?

::the Lord tilts his head:: Mostly, I run reconnaissance. I can leave one body here to make constant reports while the other is in the field. Since I can travel to the Dream as well as move through the physical plane, I'm valuable in that regard. My female self also has a bit of Healing power, and I often serve as a field medic if the team I'm with runs into trouble.

::pause; the Lady smiles:: Perhaps it doesn't seem to be a "duty" as such, but I'm also Commander Jadeite's lifepartner.

::Blinks:: If it's not rude to ask . . .

::a giggle:: It's not. I already know what you're driving at--how Jadeite handles my dual nature. We had some awkwardness in the beginning, before he really came to understand that no matter which body's there, it's still *me*. Like Zoisite, I don't really put that big a deal on gender preference--I'm both male and female, after all. Jadeite used to treat my feminine self as a lover and my masculine self as more of a younger brother, but the line's blurring now. He still prefers my female body for our, hmm, intimate relations . . . but who knows what might happen in the future? ::winks:: I *do* have a libido in both bodies, but Jadeite and I have an agreement that allows my male self a little freedom in physical relationships.

Oh my . . . I'm glad it's working out for you.

What powers do you have? Besides being able to sing duets with yourself, of course. ::giggle::

::Lady Ametrine laughs:: Well, like all Gemlords, I can teleport--my field is a column of color that ripples from the ground up, either yellow-gold for my male self, or violet for my female side. I also have telepathic powers; some people mistake me for a telepathically well-connected pair of individuals, but in all actuality, I have only one mind, which coordinates both bodies. I'm also empathic, able to receive and project emotions. I can levitate as well, and create a crystal weapon in shades of violet and yellow--my weapon of choice is a naginata, a type of polearm. I also can shield myself from energy or physical attacks; the shield is transparent, but it changes from pale yellow to faint lavender depending on the angle.

::Lord Ametrine plays with the end of his sash:: Aside from the "general" powers of my race, I have several that are specific to me, some in either form and a few that can only be used by one body or the other. I don't like to use it much, but I have the power to psychically assault someone, disrupting them with a mental blast. It's not a pleasant thing to do to someone. ::a slight wince:: While one of my other powers is the opposite in effect, I consider it rather gauche and quite unfair. I can psychically seduce a target by projecting a certain pattern of emotional cues; this can cause anyone to perceive me to be the most beautiful and flawless creature in the Cosmos. It doesn't matter what gender my target is, or which body I'm projecting the power through--it still works, though I can only sustain for a short amount of time ::another wince:: I have a suspicion that repeated use of that on the same individual might result in an obsessive addiction. Needless to say, I'd like to avoid that.

::the Lady adjusts a strand of the loom before taking over again:: I can also shift myself through the physical, astral, and Dream realms; generally, I like to keep one body in the physical realm and the other in the astral or Dream. When I switch bodies for interaction purposes or to utilize that form's particular powers, the effect can easily be confused for a gender-shift similar to Alexandrite's, due to the sudden difference in coloration between the forms. I can also choose to manifest both bodies on the same plane at the same time, as you've probably guessed. ::twin smiles:: 

::the young man speaks now, leaning back in his chair:: As Lord Ametrine, I'm highly telekinetic--I'm not quite Jadeite's class, obviously, but I'm not too shabby. Also, I can create mental lucidity, helping others think more clearly, imposing a sense of order on confusion. It might not sound like much, but it's come in handy more than once. ::a charming smile::

::the woman toys with a lock of her hair, taking over the conversation:: As Lady Ametrine, I do the reverse of my male self's lucidity--I can induce a dazed fugue state in a target. This is useful to stop an opponent in his tracks, but it also helps a lot when someone needs to meditate or otherwise calm themselves mentally. I'm also gifted with Healing powers, which has come in *very* useful on many occasions.

Quite a mixed bag of treats you have.

I bet. Do you have any hobbies?

::Lady Ametrine combs her fingers through her shimmering hair:: First and foremost, I *love* to dance. ::smiles:: I don't do it for an audience, I just do it for myself. So far, I've only let one other person watch me or join me, and that's a special case--my husband. Besides dancing, I do a lot of tapestry-weaving, obviously. ::she waves a hand around to indicate the works on the bedroom walls:: It's very relaxing, really, and it makes me feel like I'm still doing something useful even when I'm just sitting around daydreaming. ::giggle:: I also enjoy swimming and reading. Jadeite has me getting interested in computers as well, lately.

Any particular likes or dislikes you have?

::the young man considers:: I have to say, I can't stand it when people wallow in guilt and self-pity. People make mistakes--it's not something to agonize over forever. It's something that you learn from, then move on. I've got a habit of deflating other people's egos when they're wrapped up in their own misery. ::wry smile:: I do like it when people are honest and considerate of others.
