Hey, Jadeite! ::The short-haired Gemlord jerks his head up and looks over at you and Dianna, apparently startled:: ::Giggles:: I'm here for your interview finally. Hope I'm not interrupting anything. ::Shakes his head, looking like he'd rather be elsewhere:: No, you've really not. And I did acquiesce to the interview, so shall we? ::Turns in the chair so that he's sitting in it slightly sideways, facing you:: ::Nods:: All right, first things first. Tell everyone who you are. ::Faintly grins:: Lord Commander Jadeite, Warrior of Elemental Air, Commander of the Eastern Quarter. And the resident techno-dweeb. If it has to do with electronics here in the Tower, then I'm the one to see. ::Then a slight frown and a soft mutter:: Of course, there's always Turquoise . . . ::Catches the mutter and looks at him:: Turquoise? Yes, Lady Turquoise. She's as much into electronics and technological systems as I am. ::His voice takes on a grudging tone:: If I can't figure it out, she more than likely can. Yes, there's a bit of a rivalry, but it's mostly a friendly one. ::Gives him a skeptical look but continues on:: All right. Age and birthday, if you don't mind. I came into existence February 5-- two billion, 500 million, 378 hundred-thousand and seven years ago. I'm the exact same age as Nephrite, only a couple of months older. But what's two months to near-immortals? Probably not anything at all. Height and weight? ::Looks thoughtful:: Let's see... I'm 5'8 and one-quarter inches tall, if you want it precisely and weigh 164 pounds in a standard environment of 1G. ::Gives him a slight look, then smiles a bit:: Hair and eye color? ::Stares at Dianna a moment, like he thinks that's a rather stupid question, then answers:: Light blond hair and amber-colored eyes. Yes, rather startling when you're expecting the blue eyes of my manga and anime counterparts, but my coloring reflects both one of the possible hues for jadeite jade and the yellow symbolic of my Element, Air. You know, I've always wondered why you keep your hair short when virtually all the others have long hair. ::Chuckles a bit:: Well, since our hair grows very slowly-- it takes a few centuries to get some length-- the longer hair tends to be a rough indicator of a Gemlord's age, though we males don't seem to be able to grow ours longer than waist-length. However, I find it quite annoying trying to lean over and work on computers and electronics with my hair getting in the way, so I've gotten into the habit of keeping it cut short. Makes sense. I know what you mean. ::Grins:: Okay, other than keeping the computer systems of the Tower going, what are your duties? ::Gets a smug expression on his face:: Well, for my part as a member of the Elemental Guard, I was the tactician, sciences officer and historian. It was up to me to rig up whatever we needed from the local technology, keep the records of what we'd done for our reports back home, making the routine long-distance reports back to the Tower through my telepathic link to the main computer system in the Library, poke around and see what was scientifically interesting about our current surroundings and help Kunzite plan a course of action to meet our stated goal. In battles, I would be there to advise Kunzite on the most efficient manner of action and acted as his field commander in those times Nephrite wasn't there with us. But my main focus was maintaining any technology we needed to achieve our goal. ::Laughs:: As you said before, the resident techno-dweeb. Anything electronic you don't like? ::Shakes his head, chuckling a bit:: No. I like just about any machine technology's come up with. ::Grins:: At least, I like any machine I can pick apart and see how it ticks. I'm just as curious as the next Gemlord. ::Laughs more:: Yes, you all seem to be that way, only you're curious about different things. Moving right-- ::Just then, the computer on Jade's desk makes a strange sound and the monitor gets bizarre images. The Gemlord spins around and looks at the machine:: What in the Cosmos? Computer, respond. ::Nothing. The machine keeps doing its whacked-out things:: ::Growls:: Computer, respond! ::Still nothing:: Rrrr... ::Angrily starts tapping the touchpad on the keyboard, then switches to typing. Obviously whatever it is isn't getting sorted out, as Jade starts muttering a colorful string of words that would make even a sailor blush:: ::Watches Jade quietly as the Gemlord utterly loses his temper, barks out a vile swear word and turns back around to face them:: Uh... ::sweatdrop:: I gather things aren't going well? ::Angry tone:: Oh, they're going just fabulous, Dianna. Thank you so much for asking. ::Faintly grins:: Let's get back to this so that you can get your mind off that. Tell us about your powers, please. ::Frowns, then lets out a long sigh:: Starting from the start, I have what all the other Gemlords have: Limited immortality, the power to stay alive in just about any environment, the ability to recover from serious injury by reverting to my soulstone, telepathy and teleportation. I also have the abilities we four of the Elemental Guard share, as each one of us gifted the others with a slight measure of our powers when the bonds between us were forged. Those powers are pyrokinesis, telekinesis, illusionary disguise--heh, I'm a natural with that one, very talented in fact--the translation power and the power to blend in and appear unassuming. As for my own personal powers, mine are focused on the Element of Air and psi powers. Telepathy and telekinesis are my strengths, and with nearly everything I do, I tend to rely on telekinesis to achieve. ::Grins:: In fact, my telekinesis is strong enough to stop a certain Senshi's tiara attack in its tracks. ::A momentary pause:: I can sense the psychic energy of others and draw that energy to me--a talent for which the Senshi know me quite well--and I can charge items to drain energy as well. I can hold an object and read the accumulated energy there; it's a power known as psychometry, and allows me to pick up the item's most recent history or get a fix on the current location of the person whose pattern is the strongest one scanned. I can generate a fog which drains people of their energy, putting them to sleep; the effect's very much like a sort of sleeping gas. Blasts of telekinetic wind are my main ranged attack, and for hand to hand I favor conjuring up a sword and shield of pure telekinetic force that are strong enough to withstand just about anything thrown my way and are nearly invisible to my opponent. "Air Energy Electrify" is my personal force field, and "Air Strike" is my basic, telekinetic-wind blast. "Vortex Sweep" is an interesting trigger. ::Chuckles:: I summon tornados with that one. ::Suppresses the impulse to tease him by saying it sounds like he's full of hot air and starts to ask her next question:: ::Glares:: I heard that. ::mutters about authors projecting thoughts around telepaths:: ::Sweatdrops:: Sorry, Jade. I was just kidding anyways. Any likes, dislikes and hobbies you want to mention? Hrmm... Smart-ass people, including authors, are certainly something I dislike. ::Gives Dianna a pointed look, then continues:: And moronic behavior in general. I don't tolerate stupidity well. Another thing I don't handle well is crowds. I'm a loner by nature and don't like being around large groups of people--Queen Serenity's nightly parties were quite the annoyance since Princess Mars nearly always wanted to be there. Improper speaking and writing are another source of annoyance; I constantly correct others' spelling and find reading something full of grammar and spelling mistakes quite the headache-inducer. And a final thing that really sparks my temper is being shown a lack of respect. I expect politeness and manners when I do decide to show up somewhere, and hate it when I find neither one. As for what I like, well, there are a number of things. I appreciate the arts in a number of media, including opera, ballet, plays, orchestral symphonies, and movies. I love electronic gadgets and am constantly collecting them, taking them apart, modifying them and what not. Computers are another hobby, as is playing with HTML. ::Grins:: I'm the Gemlord that helps Dianna here maintain the site. I read quite a bit, and have a good memory, hence my occasional nickname "the walking encyclopedia". Anything intellectual interests me, including strategy games such as chess, word games like crosswords and trivia games.
But most of all, my favorite like is my lifepartner, Ametrine. Refined, intelligent, supportive, beautiful . . . ::He gets a rather dreamy expression on his face, an unusual look for him:: Ame's everything I have ever and could ever want in a partner, and I'm thankful that we're together. ::He pauses to continue, but just then a dark, shadowy shape darts from the computer on Jade's desk. It's a pesky electronic youma, apparently through with screwing up Jade's computer and off to search for another victim. The youma catches Jade's eye; setting the animated picture back down on his desk, the amber-eyed Gemlord is up and dashing after it. The youma flashes out, only to have Jade teleport out as well, his aura of amber light momentarily lighting up his room:: ::Laughs at the sight:: Another hobby and duty of Jade-kun's. Keeping the electronic youma under control and attempting to exterminate those that do invade the Tower. Well, I guess that's our cue that the interview's over. ::Giggles:: That youma will probably keep Jade-kun busy for a while. ::She leads you back out to the corridor, shutting the door on the yellow-adorned, east-facing room, then grins:: Okay, so where should we go next?
