::With a nod, she leads you back down a level, then through the massive, bronzed doors of the Library. Taking a right, she guides you along the circular wall about a quarter the way around the huge circle, the ceiling-high bookcases crammed with millennia of rare tomes and books, making a labyrinth of knowledge located to your left. Then an interior wall juts out from the curved, obsidian-stone outer wall, and Di follows that for a short distance:: ::The room that you are led to has a rather nondescript door of some dark alien wood within that interior wall. Upon opening, the room itself is revealed as a rather lush haven with a plush carpet of gray with white runic patterns, a queen-sized bed of the same strange wood covered in a green bedspread over purple sheets. The walls are a deep, dark blue, but a close inspection reveals that the blue is shot through with a faint veining of pink. Somehow the color scheme seems natural, if a bit odd. Across the room, sitting in a dark blue chair accented with all the other colors of the room, before a desk of the same wood, reading a large, leather-bound tome, sits Kyanite. The blue and purplish-pink-haired and green-eyed Gemlord is dressed in loose tunic and trews of dark blue, with gray boots and belt. He looks up from the book and smiles:: Greetings, Dianna. We have a few guests, I see. ::Nods, smiling:: We've been making the rounds of the Tower. Would you mind if we asked you a few questions? ::Returns the smile:: Not at all. What would you like to know? Well, if you could start with your name and rank... ::Another smile:: My name is Kyanite, Chief Librarian of the Obsidian Tower. I don't have an actual rank, but after the co-rulers, the Tower Guard, the Elemental Guard... ::A momentary mutter as the Gemlord shows a spark of temper:: An arrogant pup of a youngster... ::His voice returns to its former volume and pleasantness:: And the Castellan, my word holds sway over the populace of Lithos. ::Giggles slightly at the momentary pique:: Can we have a short physical description? ::Nodding:: Certainly. I stand 5 feet 10 inches tall by English units of measurement, and in a 1G gravity well, I have a weight of 160 pounds-- again, English measurement. I have green eyes and my hair is a varied shading of blue and purplish-pink, though if I turn it right, you can see that I have gray and white highlights. ::turns his head to demonstrate:: ::A grin:: Very nice effect. What's your age and birthday? I came forth from the Vortex Mirror the second day of October, three billion, four hundred sixty-seven million, nine hundred thirty-two thousand, five hundred fifteen years ago. ::Blinks in surprise:: That's rather precise. ::Chuckles:: You could say that, yes. You keep track of every single birthday? ::A nod:: Yes, actually. I see. Moving on... what are your duties? ::Looks thoughtful:: I am responsible for the maintenance and defense of the Library of the Obsidian Tower, repository of all the knowledge gathered by my people over the aeons. Anything else? ::The Gemlord shifts in his chair:: It's also assumed, though it was never stated thusly by Lord Obsidian, that I am to contribute to the Library just like anyone else. I do my best to uphold this portion of my duty for myself as well as others. I'm a seeker of knowledge. ::Smiles:: Any particular fields of interest or expertise? ::Again the thoughtful look:: I'm very interested in history and culture, language, music and literature. On Terra I might be considered an anthropologist. I also have a keen interest in alchemy, strangely enough. For a long time, I've had a personal quest to locate the missing third Symbol of the Cosmos, the Sword of Justice. ::Raises an eyebrow in surprise:: The Sword of Justice? ::A firm nod:: There are three Symbols to the Cosmos, two of which you already know about. The third is known as the Sword of Justice. This knowledge was preserved in the culture of imperial Japan, the three treasures of the Imperial House--the Mirror, the Jewel and the Sword. ::Blinks:: How intriguing. ::A laugh:: I told you I was interested in culture and history. ::Smiles:: Any other tidbits like that squirreled away in human culture? ::The Gemlord nods sagely:: Many, many things. But we don't have the time for me to even begin. Perhaps some other day. ::Nods in response:: Can't wait to hear it. How about telling us about your powers? ::A small frown:: Always the powers. Very well-- ::Interrupts with a laugh:: Sorry, but we humans tend to be attracted to the flashy stuff. ::Mutters something under his breath, then replies:: I have the capacity to teleport myself through visualization, with a signature coil of light around me. As necessitated by my position, I can levitate myself-- ::Another interruption, this time looking slightly puzzled:: Necessitated by your position? ::Nodding:: You've been in the Library. How else do you think I could reach the top shelves? It would be a nuisance to have to carry one of those blasted levitation stones on me all of the time. To continue, I can apply the levitation in three dimensional space, in essence to "fly". I have combat-specific abilities that I don't often use, including a force-shield and a beam both of my signature light-- That's the second time you've mentioned a "signature light". What's that? ::Smirks:: If you would stop interrupting me, I could tell you. The light is a varicolored pulse, shifting from green, to blue, to purple, to pink, to gray, to white and back to green again. The teleport's light coil and the beam, which is actually two beams coiled about each other in a double helix with a third straight down the middle, are "striped" in these colors, while the shield rotates colors through that spectrum. ::Giggles:: It's an interesting color selection. ::Waves his hand to indicate the color scheme of the room:: It contains all the colors that my soulstone is found in. Moving along, I can also form a blade of solidified light, again in those colors, for melee combat. I'm not fond of fighting, and those powers see little if any use. My other abilities include the capacity to speak with any sentient being, limited psychometry--the ability to get psychic impressions by touching an object--telepathy and immunity to environmental extremes, including deep space. One power I am often credited with which I do not have is eidetic memory--even I do not have perfect recall. That's what the Library is for. Anything else you'd like to mention? ::A small chuckle:: I could go into all the things I wish I could do, but there's nothing else to mention at this point, no. All right... Any hobbies, likes, dislikes? ::Closes the book he was reading and sets it on the desk:: As I said, I'm fond of learning history and culture, and I'm insatiably curious about alchemy. I'm also a bit of a traveler when I get restless. In the short time I've been awake I've found a new love of human motion pictures and literature, which has given me a whole new library of things to say and make allusions to, something that usually drives my fellows up the wall, and I'm just beginning to explore the delights of cuisine. I like gardening, as a passing fancy, and I've hand-sewn more than one outfit. It's one thing to just whistle it up, it's quite another to make it. What else?... I love philosophy, I like to mix and match cultures and see what I can create. I love to play games of all sorts, except with people's minds--that, I find quite distasteful. Subterfuge isn't in my repertoire... As for dislikes, I'm not overly fond of combat and strife, nor of ignorance especially. There are very few foods or forms of music I find do not agree with me, but among them are brussels sprouts and country music. ::his face twitches for a moment, as if he suppresses a grimace:: I also actively dislike being bored. That's about all that I can think of at the moment. ::A warm smile and a nod:: Well, that's all I have to ask you at the moment. Hope you didn't mind. ::Smiles gently:: Of course not. I don't often talk about my side of things. ::With that, Di leads you back out of the cozy room and gently shuts the door:: Okay, where shall we go now? There's still quite a bit to see in the Tower.
